We haven’t had a lot of sun lately, but today was our third sunny day in a row, with rain in the forecast for tomorrow, so I decided to go to the beach. I haven’t been to Bastendorf as much as other beaches in the area for a couple of reasons, so decided to head there. And am glad I did. Started by heading toward the cliffs.
I figured out that a private RV park and CG, that I did know about, has access to that end of the beach, which I had not realized.
Scamp had persuaded me to get out the ball and flinger, which turned out to be a mixed blessing. She wanted to play keepaway, and almost lost the ball a few times in the process. On the other hand, there were virtually no sticks on the beach, so it gave her somethings to do. On the other other hand, she remained way too focused on me, hoping I’d throw the ball again, after I managed to wrest (trick) the ball from her care. Here she had settled herself in the stream, guarding the ball; when I pointed the camera at her, she promptly got up, but the ball floating away gave her something to play with, and she didn’t lose it.
I got curious and decided to walk to the jetty at other end of the beach. Where I saw a couple of guys fishing, and boats coming out from what I decided was Charleston harbor.
I found a stick for Scamp near the jetty. I was surprised she didn’t pick one up for herself, but she happily accepted my offering and romped with it halfway back to the car.
I discovered you can see the lighthouse from that end of the beach.
The tide was noticeably coming in at that point, so we hustled back to the car. I was getting hungry, but it was too early to go anywhere for lunch, so I drove on down to Sunset Bay to transfer pictures from the phone to the ipad. I have to say, nice as it is, it paled by comparison to Bastendorf.
I shall have to include Bastendorf more often in my circle of outings from now on.
It was interesting to fill in my knowledge of this little part of local geography, and see how it’s all linked.
Lots of nature to see up where you are! I think that’s wonderful. And Scamp is obviously a happy camper.
