My location (the blue dot):
Have stopped about 50 miles sooner than planned. It will add only about 30 miles to tomorrow’s drive, via a different road heading east across the Sierras.
On a whim, I decided to come see if the Antlers campground is open, the one run by the Forest Service, and it is, one loop anyway. I’m fond of this campground. It used to be open year round, but hasn’t been for several years now, so it’s no longer a stop on winter trips. And it’s too hot in the summer–I pretty much refuse to go to California in the summer any more, since I can go any time I like.
Huge contrast to yesterday’s spot. Yesterday I was surrounded by people and had a view of the surrounding hills; today I am surrounded by trees (and manzanita and poison oak. So pretty, poison oak is, especially in the spring when it’s all shiny with oil).
Since (so far) no one else is near, . . .
Sh-h. Don’t tell. It’s against the rules. Hopefully they’ll come back when it’s time to eat.
You’ll notice CJ calmly stayed in the van while I set up.
Now to take her for a walk before wine.
Edited post-walk to add one more cat picture,
Two pictures of the lake,
And one picture of a tree against the sky that of course was more impressive in reality.
Brought the cats in after the walk, and now we have neighbors with a dog, so probably won’t let them out again.
A nice contrast to the other campsite. I’m sure there are advantages to both.
