Clouds cleared up this afternoon, so took CJ out to our park for a walk. On the way back to the car, met the guy who does my lawns, a water enthusiast and fisherman, just getting back from a paddle on the pond, so stopped to chat. And saw a mink! My first sighting of a wild mink ever, as far as I can remember. Stan says there are a lot around here, he was surprised I’d never seen one before. Apparently they were brought in to be farmed, and now are all up and down the river.
AND later he suggested we cooperate on some local paddles, so we have tentative plans to do the stretch from our downtown park to the next boat ramp downstream next weekend. I’ve been wanting to do it, but seriously not feeling ok about riding the bike back to pick up the car along the highway, which has virtually no shoulders along much of it. So we’ll juggle vehicles and make it work.
That’s awesome to find someone else to go along. Makes it more fun and safer. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mink, either wild or otherwise. (except for my cousin’s mink coat, yuck)
