Do not be deceived by the fact that these trees look just like dozens of other trees previously posted. They are, I can promise, BRAND NEW. To me, that is.
After more than ten years of walking dogs around here, this morning I managed to wander into some trails I hadn’t found before, and the photos posted below were all taken in the new territory.
I know they look like all the other tree pictures I post. I just can’t help myself. They always look new to me.
I took this one partly because of the snake-like branch at the bottom. At first I thought someone had laid a stick down against the tree, but no–it’s actually a branch that grew out of the tree, and then died.
I liked the constrastiness of this one. It was down in a little valley area. The dogs thought the grass was pretty good there 🙂
The BLM (probably–it’s BLM land) had been working on clearing some brush and trimming branches around the next one. I can’t figre out why they trimmed off the branches–seems pointless to me. I mean, it’s not a park. Maybe they just needed something to do to justify their jobs.
It rained last night, so we had beautiful blue sky and lovely cloudscapes this morning. I love the backside of a storm. Especially here, because they aren’t all that frequent. When I first moved here, from Vancouver Washington, I really missed all the cloudscapes they have up there. But we do get some–as you can see.
OK, back to trees. On this one, I was trying to get the effect of the light, but I’m afraid you’ll have to enhance with your imagination. I don’t know the trick of catching the light, or maybe just don’t have the camera for it.
You may have to use your imagination a bit on this one, too. I probably should have uploaded it so you could see it full-screen, but I’m too lazy to go back and do it over, so you’ll just have to take my word for it that it’s a cool picture. . .
And then on the way back, I saw this tree with the moss. Because of the rain, it’s out in full force, in all its green glory. Moss is another recurring theme on this blog 🙂
A lot of the trees around here seem to be dying. I suspect it’s because we’ve had several really dry years in a row. This year has also been dry so far–another reason I celebrate every storm we get. This next tree doesn’t look very healthy–but it’s beautiful nonetheless.
Well, that’s it. I’ve had my tree fix for now.
