Not really, because I’m now in Albuquerque (which I bet no one can type ten times quick), but I composed it in Soccorro, so it counts.
It rained last night in Socorro, and it was WONDERFUL.
Rain in the desert is always a blessing,
I say. The day before it reached 107º F (for those outside the US, please don’t ask me to translate that to Celsius, my brain’s not up to it), which is HOT. Yes it’s dry, but HOT. The past two weeks, it’s been hot nearly everywhere I’ve been, so when Samuel (more about him in later posts) and I came out from supper last night to find a thunderstorm heavily raining on us, to the point of chill, it was all good. It was in the mid 60s when I walked the dogs this morning, and the boy Shiba, who has been slowly pacing around as though in constant mild pain, positively romped. And I swear, the desert looked greener this morning when I drove up to Alb. than it did when I drove down to Socorro three evenings ago. Altogether a blessing.
So today is rest, renew, write, and prepare for the next leg of the trip day. I found a Days Inn that both has free Internet access AND takes dogs, a real winner for me. More posts will follow shortly.
