Probably I’ve been walking around in the trees too long, but I often see figures in them. I think these photos, with their captions, are funny (except for one, which I just think is cool). Most people seem to only smile politely when I show these to them, which makes me suspect that to most people the attempt at humor appears pretty lame. But I like them, and what’s a blog for if not to endulge one’s own sensibilities?
I decided to put some random text between them in order to space them out; here’s picture number one:
Here’s number two:
Most people seem to like that one the best.

That one’s worth a bit of explaining. Those of you who have dogs know that, for reasons unknown, they often eat grass. My dogs often spend quite a lot of time on our spring walks grazing, and have definite preferences for certain grassy areas over others. I just happened to catch all three of them at once with their heads down eating grass in this picture. The caption would work better if they really were cowdogs–herding dogs, that is–but it still tickles me.
Here’s picture number four
That’s the one I think is just cool.
Number five
That one’s a bit subtle perhaps, but it looks like a person in a ghost costume running to me. Whether it’s running at me to scare me, or running away from something scary, I’m not sure. The effect was right there in the original scene; I may have upped the contrast a bit, but I didn’t have to do any serious processing.
Here’s the last one
Maybe you have to be a Star Wars fan to appreciate the first and last ones?
Neat pictures!
This post reminds me of a tree I saw that I meant to go back to later. I can’t for the life of me remember where it was or what it was “doing” that made me want to capture its pose. I just remember that I gasped because it looked unexpectedly funny. (I think this camera causes me to take time to really look at my surroundings.)
I can honestly say that I’ve never seen dogs grazing like that before! Do your dogs … um … hold their grass pretty well? Mine would leave it in a nice little gag inducing pile for me in the least convenient place possible (and have!). Nice pooches, by the way.
Is that the dryad to the left of the dog in the back? Excuse my ignorance. I’m sure there’s more than one tree with moss (?) hanging off it in your part of the world.

I never thought about it before, but actually when we’re out walking and they eat grass, they do seem to hold it down pretty well. Unless they’re urping it up out of my sight, which is possible. The poodle eats grass in the back yard and then urps–if I’m lucky, he gives me enough warning that I can grab him and get him off the couch or the rug first. . .
No the tree to the left of the dog isn’t the drayd. As you surmised, there are a lot of trees with moss here. I must have literally thousands of pictures of trees-with-moss by now (I love digital because it costs virtually nothing to have all these pictures.)
