I’m still fighting that cold. I think I’m winning, but only time will tell. So far I’m lucky, because several colleagues have had a cold turn into viral pneumonia, and mine doesn’t seem to be going in that direction–but it’s still keeping me from walking the dogs, so I compensated by browsing among my old pictures taken on dog walks, and found this.
It tickels me that the Shibas like to hop up into the trees. They do it much more often than the poodle, which is interesting because in general poodles are more agile. But who can account for tastes?
In case you’re wondering: “Shiba” is short for “Shiba Inu”, which I’m told but don’t quote me means “little dog” in Japanese. They’re a Japanese breed, supposedly like small Akitas. They aren’t for everyone; they can be very stubborn, and can be either dog aggressive or people aggressive. They have Personality. Don’t get me wrong–I love my dogs, and I love the breed–but if you’re looking for a calm, sweet family dog that will tolerate a toddler pulling on it’s tail and ears–Shibas aren’t for you. (I get asked about them a lot when I take them out among people, and I can rattle off the above spiel practically in my sleep now.)

I wish you a speedy recovery.
